We have established a strong partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools and the Baltimore City Health Department to identify potential contributors to poor asthma control. Asthma CHAMPS: Community and Home Asthma Management Program in Schools is a tailored multi-level asthma intervention program. The Asthma CHAMPS Program will be implemented in 32 elementary/middle schools in Baltimore City over three years (Fall 2023 - June 2026). This project has high potential to demonstrate a successful program that reduces asthma morbidity among Baltimore City children and effective implementation strategies for urban communities.
Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) conducts an asthma home visiting program for children 1-18 years of age with moderate to severe asthma. It provides asthma education, medicine administration training, connections with providers, and asthma trigger-reducing supplies free of charge.
